My Background

With a rich background in therapeutic counselling which includes experience in the charity and educational sector I am trauma informed and accustomed to working with all ages from a diverse mix of cultures. In addition, I bring decades of experience working internationally in the property and media sectors which helps bring a unique perspective to my work.

As a member of the LGBTQ community, I understand the nuances of minority stress and I am aware of how intersectionality can impact and hold us back. I celebrate the diversity of gender, sexuality, and relationships and I support individuals from all walks of life, offering a safe space for exploration and healing.

My Approach

I deploy a range of different approaches, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Compassion-Focused therapy, to devise a bespoke, integrative approach that best suits the needs and requirements of each of my clients. Consistent throughout the process is my informal, honest, compassionate and empathic style.

How I work

Sometimes I will be experimental, to help bring things into your awareness, while at others I will gently challenge you, if I spot contradictions or inconsistencies. I often share what I notice about you, myself and what is happening in the space between us when I feel it will help expand your self-awareness. Honesty, authenticity, and being 'open' to the prospect of change and growth are key to the therapeutic process. The ‘relationship’ between us will be central to our work together and I will never tell you ‘What you need to do', but at times I will share educational resources and other avenues of help when it feels appropriate.

You will always be driving the process, but I will accompany you and, when required, gently guide you through the issues that feel most significant and pressing for you. I will validate and offer compassion when required, and most crucially, help bring you to a position where whatever you feel is holding you back or troubling you feels less powerful. It may be that our work together focuses on addressing a particular issue or on helping you achieve greater self-acceptance or acceptance of past experiences, others, and the world around you. My clients come from a variety of cultures, faiths, genders, sexualities, and stages of life and my therapeutic space is a judge free environment.
